The Artists of West Vancouver
Cost: $12.00 - $25.00
Virtual or in-person at the Grosvenor Theatre, Kay Meek Arts Centre, 1700 Mathers Avenue.
Join us for a talk exploring the many important Canadian artists and creatives that have lived and worked in West Vancouver. West Vancouver in the 1960s was home to important Canadian artists such as Gordon Smith, B.C. Binning, and Alistair Bell, among many others. These artists sought to celebrate the community’s stunning natural landscape and the intersections occurring between art and design. These earlier generations of modernist artists have encouraged and taught younger generations of artists, some of whom continue to call West Vancouver home. Led by curator Hilary Letwin, this talk will explore the ways in which these multiple generations of artists have shaped West Vancouver.
